Tissue Paper Art Project FAIL That Turned Into A FUN Half Hour

Last month one of Mila’s KiwiCo crafts was to wet tissue paper onto a cloth bag and by doing so the color from the tissue paper would dye the bag. It was really neat! Mila placed the tissue paper squares onto the cloth bag and then used a dropper to squeeze drops of water on to them. Right away we watched the color stream off the tissue paper and dye the cloth. We left it over night to dry and in the end Mila ended up with a brightly colored rainbow bag! So, I thought we could do the same with paper! I set everything up just like before and went for it. Only, nothing happened. The tissue paper we used either wasn’t colored enough to dye the paper or the paper wasn’t absorbing the color. I have no idea but nothing happened. What a FAIL!

The great thing though was that it fully entertained Mila for a good thirty minutes. We played music and sat outside while she squirted water on the tissue paper. It ended up being a simple outside activity, perfect to do on a warm day. Anyways, while we share a bunch of fun activities to do with your kids here … Not all of the ones we try turn out perfect! But if you have extra tissue paper lying around and some water, let your little one go nuts with it for a bit. It could buy you a few minutes to yourself ;)

We cut up squares of colored tissue paper, used a plastic syringe, and I let Mila squirt the tissue paper on a baking sheet to corral the mess.

Hope you all are having a great week so far!
