Shadow Puppet Stories - Keeping Busy At Home
It feels like the last 25 days of staying at home have gone by super fast and super slow. The days just sort of snowball into each other. The start of this week has been unusually difficult. I think both Dan and I have reached our limit per say and our energy has dropped. In turn, our attitudes have effected Mila’s and she has had a melt down at least once a day. You know those really horrid ones where crying and screaming just has to be endured. No reasoning or calming tricks pulled from my bag will do. This morning we all sat in Mila’s room and had a “TB” (touch base). We hashed out feelings and listed things we wanted to do while we are still cooped up inside. Letting Mila be apart of the conversation I think helped her understand that she isn’t alone in feeling upset. We all feel that way, but we need to keep our smiles going. I am positive you all are going through it too. I am sending you all hugs, we’ll get through this!
Now for some fun stuff! Raise your hand if you’ve ever created a shadow puppet with your hand or object?! Growing up I shared a bedroom with my little sister and little brother. Making shadow puppets was something that we used to when we were little. Each taking turns making up stories that were just bonkers and made us laugh. Cut to now, with all our extra time at home, we’ve jazzed up Mila’s bedtime routine with our own version of shadow puppets! Each of us taking turns making up crazy stories. I thought it would be fun to create shadow puppet print outs your family could use!
Find our shadow puppet print outs below. Just download and print. Print multiples so you can have extra characters! Then cut each shape out and attach it to a popsicle stick or paper straw. Prop up a flash light or the iPhone flashlight and have some fun telling tall tales with your shadow puppets! The crazier the story, the better!!
Hope these bring you some nighttime family fun! Stay safe friends!
