Headed Back To School With A New Routine + A New Pair Shoes
It is time to start coaxing our brains to slowly get into Back To School mode. This time of year is always so bittersweet for me. I thrive off of routine and prepping my kids for school, even if it is just preschool as of now. My favorite time of year is Fall and I love knowing that pumpkins and scarfs await me. Though, it is sad to wave goodbye to lazy beach days, family BBQ’s, and cooling off our sun kissed skin with a dip into the pool. Our home is buzzing with happiness as we prep Mila for her second year of preschool. Only one year older and Mila is directing us with things she “needs” for school this time around. A polka dot backpack, rainbow stickers for her water bottle, and “shoes that light up when I take steps.” Typically before our kids start school we like to do a little celebratory dinner and we try to decide on one new thing to add to our morning routine. Whether that be having a quick dance party, make pancakes at least once during the week instead of the weekend, or try a new cereal. This year Mila asked if she could walk to school and while we live too far to walk I felt like I needed to make her request happen. So, I’ll be driving Mila to school, but parking about a block away so we can indeed walk to school. I aim to please. Mila is thrilled!

This school year will begin extra special as we’ve happily partnered with Saucony to help spread the word of their new Kids Flash Glow light up sneaker! This partnership couldn’t have come at more perfect time, as Mila has been begging for a pair of light up shoes. She spotted a child wearing them a few months ago and insisted she needed a pair. This past week we took a practice walk to school. Mila was able to break in her Flash Glow shoes and we even took out her backpack so we can all get the real feel. Our walk was filled with her demonstrating all her new found moves for me. We also slowed down and chatted about school starting soon. We talked about her friends. What she was most excited about this second time around in preschool. It was really neat to see her brain work and listen to her talk. Such a difference from just one year ago. My little girl growing up right before me, making me so proud. I love the new addition of walking to school. It will give us some time to connect before she goes her separate way. I see it developing into a sacred time with her where we can openly talk about anything. I also love that it was her idea. I know she just wanted to do something fun, but maybe she was trying to tell me something. Maybe she was trying to tell me that we needed this time together in the morning to bond. Especially with this new baby coming! If you can swing it, I recommend working in a quick walk before school. Where there are zero distractions and you and your little one can just be, before the day begins.
