Chocolate Malt Rice Krispie Squares
Listen, I know I say “It’s one of my favorites…” when talking about nearly every sweet treat. It is no surprise that I have the largest sweet tooth. My most recent root canal is proof. (Forget I said that last part!) But I am not lying when I say, a thick, frosty chocolate malt milkshake is truly one of my most favorites to enjoy! I love a good milkshake and making it a malt is a home run in my opinion! You know what else I love, a good old fashioned Rice Krispie treat.
Well, today we are combining the two into a gloriously, chewy, chocolate, malt creation that is pretty delicious. Delicious and fun to make too! The girls love them and if you want to try making them for yourself, the simple steps are below.
Of course nothing is more iconic than a classic Rice Krispie treat! These start out the same with melted butter, marshmallows, and Rice Kripsies! I like making them in a giant pot so I have lots of room to stir as I add the ingredients. If you need a good dutch oven style pot, this one I have is awesome and affordable, under a $100. Shop it HERE.
I also like to sweeten these up with some vanilla extract. Once I add the Rice Krispies cereal I add in the malted milk powder and give it all a good stir. I will say as you continue on it gets tougher to stir, so get your arm ready!
The thing that makes these next level, in my opinion, are the mini chocolate chips! I like using mini chocolate chips, because most of them melt a bit and gives you the most delicious, chocolatey through out texture. Mini chocolate chips are the way to go here.
Another hot tip when making Rice Krispie treats in general is using a piece of parchment paper to press them into the pan. This way you can firmly press down and smooth them out into the pan. After an hour you can remove them from the pan and cut them into perfect large squares!

3 tablespoons malt milk powder
1 cup mini chocolate chips
*optional sea salt to sprinkle on top

Directions
Step 1: In a large pot over medium low heat melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter.
Step 2: Once melted, add 5 cups of mini marshmallows. Stir continuously until the marshmallows melt.
Step 3: Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla to the melted marshmallows and stir.

Step 5: Turn off the heat and add 1 cup of mini chocolate chips. Stir until all the chocolate chips are through out. They will melt a bit ;)
Step 6: I like using a 9x13 inch baking dish to get that big thick Rice Krispie square, be sure to spray it lightly with cooking spray before adding the Rice Krispie mixture!
Step 7: Use a piece of parchment paper to firmly press down the Rice Krispie treats into the pan. This will give you a nice compact square and help you smooth the top.
Step 8: Let them sit for about an hour before removing them from the baking dish.
Step 9: Cut them into large squares and enjoy!
