Colorful Kettle Corn - A Festive Family Treat
We are getting festive this week for Valentine’s Day! I love any excuse to celebrate and Valentine’s Day is fun to get creative with. I thought it would be fun to deliver little popcorn Valentines to our family and friends this week. We made a huge batch of kettle corn and colored it with a hint of pink! I found paper craft bags and Mila used crayons to decorate them. I think they turned out too cute and were so easy to make! You could also switch up the color to get festive for any holiday/occasion. Find the kettle corn recipe below and let me know if you make a batch soon with your family.
Pink Kettle Corn
What You Need
1/2 Cup Corn Kernels
1/4 Cup White Sugar
1/4 Cup Vegetable or Canola Oil
1 Teaspoon Salt
4-5 Drops Pink Food Coloring
What You Do
In a large pot over medium heat start warming up your oil.
Then add in your corn kernels, sugar, salt, and food coloring.
With a wooden spoon keep stirring until the first few corn kernels start to pop. You’ll want to keep stirring so the sugar doesn’t burn.
Then put the lid on top of the pot and use the pots handles to keep moving the pot around to help the popping along and to keep from burning.
Once popping has stopped pour it out onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool. You’ll want to do this so the kettle corn doesn’t clump all together in the pot while it cools. You’ll also want it to cool a bit before eating since the sugar will be extremely hot!
You can store the kettle corn in an air tight container for up to three days! Enjoy!
